Are England Unmanageable?

Sven was mocked and hated as England manager. His dealings with the squad during the previous WC were laughable and criticised to the highest extent. Yet when he took over Man City, they've been made into a real force to be reckoned with in the EPL.

McLaren was a highly influential individual as assistant manager at Man Utd, before making the jump to manager at Middlesbrough, where he did extremely well and developed a team capable of toppling any of the big4 on their best day. Yet he managed the England squad which failed to qualify for Euro08, making them the first squad to fail to qualify for a major tournament for the first time in God knows how long.

So, is it just that England are unmanageable? I read an interview by one of the players the other day, can't remember who, he said that the toughest job in the world is to coach England, or something along those lines. He may just be right.

Cheers,
Shaistav

RE: Are England Unmanageable?

I still don't quite understand when you say England is unmanageable. There are a lot of talents around and what we need is someone who knows how to make use and blend them together in a team. The person must also be strong to make changes to the English team style of play on long balls. Well....

RE: Are England Unmanageable?

I wouldnt go so far as to say England are unmangeable but, the capabilities of the English players is somewhat limited in comparison with the 'foreign' counterparts.
The Media always pick on the Manager if the team fails to live up to their(Media) expectations and, the Manager always pays the price, whereas the majority of the blame lays in the Players performances !!

RE: Are England Unmanageable?

Yeah, most of the time it's the British media on the kill. This applies to the English fans as well. I guess Steve McClaren is just another fine example which bites the dust.
