F.A. to quiz Ferguson

The Football Association wants Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlos Queiroz to explain the comments they made after Manchester United's FA Cup defeat by Portsmouth.
United boss Ferguson criticised referee Martin Atkinson and referees' chief Keith Hackett after Saturday's loss.

Ferguson's assistant Queiroz also spoke out against Atkinson, and the FA has written to the United duo.

They have until 19 March to respond. If any action is taken, the pair would face a fine, not a touchline ban

well, ferguson certainly has a case about the red card and he also mentioned in an interview how he agrees with wenger that star players need to be protected. however, in today's game where sportsmanship is at a premium such outbursts typify the current state of soccer in england. he should have used the proper channels to vent his wrath.

There is no fair way that so called 'Star Players' can be protected and, if they are protected thats discrimination.

well, the big clubs certainly have been roughed up whenever they meet sides that are short of talent and high on octane. of course, its part of the game and i think arsenal suffered a couple of seasons but have been able to cope better this season. good luck to utd as well, though they have physically strong players so its hard to see what fergie was alluding to
